Where can I leave a review for a restaurant?
Anywhere the restaurant is listed. The big ones are Google Maps, Yelp and Tripadvisor, plus the delivery app you ordered on. Each one shows your review next to that restaurant's listing, and most let the restaurant reply.
Replio is a newer place to do it. The difference is what happens next: Replio reads every review before it is published, a confirmed representative of the restaurant can reply in public, and if you raised a problem you can ask to hear whether it was fixed.
How do I leave a Google review for a restaurant?
On your phone or in a browser, signed in to a Google account:
- Open Google Maps and search the restaurant by name and city.
- Open its listing and scroll to Reviews.
- Tap Write a review.
- Pick a star rating, write what happened, add photos if you want, and tap Post.
Your name and profile photo appear with the review. The restaurant can reply through its Google Business Profile.
How do I leave a review on Replio?
Reading is open to anyone. Writing takes an account: your name, an email address and a 6 digit code sent to that address. No password.
- Find the restaurant on the board, or open Write a review and search by name or address. Pick the exact location.
- Add the date of your visit and a rating from 1 to 5.
- Say what happened in text, or record it as audio or video.
- Tick one box if you want to hear whether the restaurant acts on an issue you raised. Leave it empty and you hear nothing.
- Send it. Replio checks it, then publishes it with your display name only.
Your email address and full name stay private. Your display name starts as your first name and you can change it.
What should a restaurant review say?
The reviews a restaurant can act on are specific. Four things cover most of it:
- When you went, and roughly what time. A slow Friday night and a slow Tuesday lunch are different problems.
- What you ordered, and what you would order again.
- Who looked after you, if someone stood out, good or bad.
- What you would change, in one sentence.
Leave out phone numbers, email addresses and other people's names. Say what you saw, not what you assume about why.
A great visit deserves the same detail as a bad one. The person who went out of their way is more likely to hear about it when you name what they did.
Can you give me an example of a restaurant review?
This one is made up to show the shape. It names no real restaurant and no real person.
Lunch on a Tuesday, about 12:30. Ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a lemonade. The sandwich was hot and the bun was fresh. The fries came out lukewarm, and when I mentioned it the person at the counter swapped them without a fuss. Tables near the window had not been wiped. Would go back for the sandwich; wipe the tables more often at lunch.
Specific, dated, fair to both the good and the bad, and the restaurant knows exactly what to do with it.
What happens after I post a review?
On most sites, the restaurant can reply and that is the end of it.
On Replio, a review is checked first, then published. A representative Replio has confirmed for that location can reply in public. If the restaurant says it acted on an issue, that shows with its date, and if you chose updates you can be asked once whether it was resolved. Your answer shows separately. One statement never implies the other.
Not every restaurant has claimed its location, and not every issue is resolved. Replio checks what a review says. It is not proof a visit happened.
